Nic Ma has over a decade of experience in traditional media. In 2021, he transitioned into New Zealand’s construction industry, where he has served as Marketing Manager at a leading Chinese-owned tools and building materials company, and as Legal Counsel and Marketing Manager at a top-tier construction contractor. He effectively integrates his media expertise with construction industry resources, actively exploring diversified development pathways within New Zealand’s building sector. He has become the first Chinese content creator in New Zealand to live-stream the entire home-building process. Together with Jack, he co-created the live-stream series “How Many Steps Are There in Building a House in New Zealand?”, which has been widely praised by both industry professionals and the Chinese community for its professional, accessible, and immersive content. At the end of 2024, Nic Ma was appointed Deputy Secretary-General of the New Zealand Building Workers’ Association. In this role, he has actively promoted the establishment of a regular communication mechanism between the association and government departments, positioning the association as worker-centered and advocating for workers’ voices. He has also successfully launched several in-house media and branding initiatives, significantly enhancing the association’s influence and service credibility.
